Prepare your MoTeC log file
Retrieve a recorded session and locate the LD file you can inspect in MoTeC i2.

Before you start
MoTeC i2 analyses recorded log files. Retrieving data from the hardware uses the management software for your ECU or logger. Have that software available, plus i2 if you want to inspect the run first.
Retrieve the log
Download with your device software
Connect to the ECU or logger using its supported connection. Use the appropriate MoTeC management software to retrieve the session. For an M1 ECU, M1 Tune provides the Retrieve Logged Data workflow.
Save an i2 log
Complete the retrieval and conversion to an i2 log file where the device workflow offers it. Locate the resulting .ld recording in the destination you selected.
Inspect the session
Open the .ld in i2 and check the recording dates, laps, and channels. An i2 workspace or project layout is not a substitute for the log file.
Prepare the file for upload
Copy the .ld into your session folder. Retain any companion files with your backup, and select the .ld recording when uploading telemetry.
Keep the useful channels
The analysis can only use what your device recorded. Preserve these channels when they are available:
- Time & lap markers
- The timeline and lap boundaries that keep a session in order.
- Speed & distance
- The foundation for comparing pace and locating changes around a lap.
- GPS position
- Latitude and longitude for the driven line and track map.
- Throttle & brake
- Driver inputs that help explain the speed trace. These require the appropriate sensors or ECU connection.
- RPM, gear & acceleration
- Extra context for shifts, cornering load, acceleration, and deceleration.
Bring your session into Laptura
Open Laptura
Sign in to your Laptura account and open the session upload area. If you’re waiting for beta access, you can still prepare and keep your export for later.
Upload the telemetry file
Choose the file you prepared. Keep the original extension and upload the data file itself, rather than a ZIP archive, video, or screenshot.
Check the session
When processing finishes, check the track, lap count, and available channels. Start with a complete lap and compare it with another clean lap from the same session.
Common fixes
- If there is no log to retrieve, confirm logging was enabled and that your device’s logging configuration captured the session.
- Channel availability depends on the logger setup. GPS position, brake pressure, and throttle are not present in every recording.
- If the file cannot be opened in i2, return to the original recording and repeat the vendor’s retrieval process before retrying the upload.
