Retrieve your VBOX telemetry
Find the VBO data recording on your logger’s storage and keep it separate from the video.

Before you start
This guide covers VBOX devices that record .vbo files. You’ll need your session storage and a card reader or the transfer method supported by your logger. Circuit Tools is useful for checking a recording before upload.
Copy the session data
Finish the recording
Stop logging and let the device finish writing before removing its storage. Follow your model’s shutdown instructions.
Find the VBO file
Open the recording storage on your computer and locate the .vbo for the correct session. On video loggers, the data recording can sit alongside a matching video file.
Copy it to your computer
Keep a local copy of the .vbo. If you use the Circuit Tools transfer wizard, choose Copy to retain the original files on the card.
Check the recording
Optionally open the copied file in Circuit Tools and confirm it contains the expected run. Preserve the data file’s original structure and extension.
Keep the useful channels
The analysis can only use what your device recorded. Preserve these channels when they are available:
- Time & lap markers
- The timeline and lap boundaries that keep a session in order.
- Speed & distance
- The foundation for comparing pace and locating changes around a lap.
- GPS position
- Latitude and longitude for the driven line and track map.
- Throttle & brake
- Driver inputs that help explain the speed trace. These require the appropriate sensors or ECU connection.
- RPM, gear & acceleration
- Extra context for shifts, cornering load, acceleration, and deceleration.
Bring your session into Laptura
Open Laptura
Sign in to your Laptura account and open the session upload area. If you’re waiting for beta access, you can still prepare and keep your export for later.
Upload the telemetry file
Choose the file you prepared. Keep the original extension and upload the data file itself, rather than a ZIP archive, video, or screenshot.
Check the session
When processing finishes, check the track, lap count, and available channels. Start with a complete lap and compare it with another clean lap from the same session.
Common fixes
- A video file does not contain the same telemetry as its companion VBO. Select the .vbo for data analysis.
- If the map is incomplete, inspect the GPS recording in Circuit Tools for a missing fix or interrupted recording.
- Keep the original recording if you edit or trim a copy in the vendor software.
